Asian Working Motherhood, Itemized

This 300inch long “grocery receipt” originates from an anonymous survey of working Asian mothers across the globe, who shared both the challenges of raising children and the deep love and compassion they hold for their families. The work honors the deep, quiet love nature of Asian motherhood, particularly in Asian cultural contexts where home-cooked meals and everyday acts like grocery shopping are essential expressions of love. The typography also advocates for greater community support toward working mothers.

This receipt is part of a collaborative art and robotics installation centered on the dinner table. A pre-programmed robotic arm, served as the mother role, performs movements that reflects the process of prepping meal. The receipt, serves as the tablecloth, inviting audiences to assist the robotic arm in setting the table, turning a daily task into a shared act of care and solidarity.
